New Sport 160 Owner – Advice Please

Hello,

I bought a very nice Sport 160 on Friday after having it checked out by a Lotus Specialist (MORLAND JONES, Hammersmith). I’ve driven the car to and from West Wales this weekend (about 500 miles) and have to say that I’m extremely happy with the handling, feel and performance of the car.

I have one quick question that I hope somebody can help or reassure me with. When driving there is a definite but not very loud gearbox wine. There is also some gearbox ‘noise’ when in gear and engine breaking or coasting. Is this normal? I would have hoped that a specialist would have picked this up? Keep in mind that I’ve not experienced an Elise before and it could just be the fact that the box is about 1 foot behind my head with little soundproofing!

If it does need a rebuild then I’m not too concerned as it’s under warranty and is not my daily drive. Hopefully it will be covered!

They all make a bit of noise its just part of the package.
