So the green light has been obtained from the board, papa can go ahead and start hunting for a weekend fun vehicle. The only condition placed by the finance ministers is that it has to seat 4 ( 2 kids, 6 & 4).
The other must haves are a manual transmission, great sound (preferably V8) and somewhat attractive looks. I will not be swinging it around corners with 120mph, but also do not want to drive a boat.
The price limit is decently high so please let the suggestions begin.

Besides the obvious e9x M3 and the 911 I am greatful for any other ideas.

Unfortunately the price bracket somewhat determines the options ... I can guess by what you’ve said but let us know and I’m sure suggestions will flow!

Don’t go e9x M3, not special enough for your brief

The convertible could prove to be a nice experience.

I'd say you should look at the VXR8, the handling is very good & then there's the 430-650bhp to play with that'll put a big smile on your with or without the kids wink

Ferrari 456 manual should check all the boxes and the cheaper ones are at about 50k euros

Edit - obviously I am working on the assumption Italian V12 always beats all V8s smile

This. limited options on 4 seater weekend cars.

Im doing the same in the next few months hopefully. Im only after a convertible though and not necessarily a manual only.

My list currently of choices - there arent many;

997 GTS (can get manual but extremely rare)
Grancabrio - the noise!!!!
M240i convertible (manual available) - probably not special enough for a toy.
M3 V8 Convertible (manual available)
M4 Convertible (manual available)
XKR - possibly not as fun as the others. Sound lovely though.

He wants a manual which unfortunately rules out the Granturismo & C63.

The car NEEDS to be Manual, because I cannot drive at astronomical Speeds for obvious reasons I need to get some driving satisfaction from using 3 pedals and stirring the pot.

The Ferrari 456 is an awesome shout...they are so stunningly Beautiful and completly off the Radar. Will investigate further!

The new Stang is allready on the list, I think ist a very attractive product.

The BMW's (M3's, 135i etc) are also on the list, despite not being all that "Special" they are good rewarding machines.

Aston DB9....??

Keep the suggestions coming, there can't be that many Options left as most manufacturers have lost the Story with the totalitarian Adoption of automatic boxes.

Thank you

I have a Mustang and two young children. It can and does work, bit of a faff getting them in and out of the back but manageable. It's a really fun car to own, I'd highly recommend one.
