Picked this up in April 2017 as our family run about. Paid 3k for it and within the first month an ABS sensor failed which meant the abs would kick in at random, handy.

Whilst I was having the sensor fixed I had the front wishbones replaced with genuine Volvo items as the ones on there were garbage. This stopped the annoying knocking sounds on full lock and improved the handling no end. Now 600 notes lighter.

Other than 2 new front tyres, it has been running pretty well since (touch wood). Well apart from it being front wheel drive only.......

2WD only... best of luck there. Plenty threads on the subject, several key points to check when it comes to diagnosing and usually quite a dear issue to solve. You may be lucky but generally speaking a neglected Haldex system can't be a bit of a ballache to resolve. Good luck, great cars but rough ones can be costly... but then again so can cherished ones.

Yeah, and for that very reason it is going to remain fwd only. It's got winter tyres on the front and it coped just fine when we had the snow earlier it the year.

It really isn't worth spending any money on it, I'm going to run it into the ground.

Valid argument and to be honest, a 2wd with the right tyres would probably be just as capable in the real word as a AWD on the wrong tyres. I think it being there and not working would keep me awake at night but then again if it's just a cheap machine to not get too precious about, leaving it be is probably a wise decision!

Exactly, it's primary purpose is to ferry my 3 children and associated crap round in relative comfort and safety. The interior get coated in biscuits and mud. The body get dinged and dented and i couldn't care less.

It has currently done 191k, I'd quite like to get it to the moon..

Any ideas how I can get the pics the right way. I wasn't paying on my side when I took them, honest!

Bye bye. After nearly 5 years of service, it's off to the scrapper. Coolant leak, oil leak, heater blower won't turn off so have to keep pulling the fuse, steering going very heavy a low speed. Not worth fixing.

A decent innings though at 222k.

Yep, it did well, they can stand plenty of abuse.
