The frozen pizza thread prompted to me to have a good old fashioned British moan about something considering the British football team has done ok for once. Blooody buuggers!

So here to start off with is Tesco frozen pizza skullduggery. They claim

DOUBLE PEPPERONI PIZZA.

This "double" is 50% more than their new Hearty Food Co. ( aka Value wink ) Pepperoni pizza at £1 v the £1.50 for double. Double sounds better value doesn't it? Looking at the ingredient listings I suddenly had a tsunami of doubt. How can both have 13% Pepperoni by content and one be double ?

So I decided to do some quick crowdfunding and voila, I took them home to see what is going on.

This is the result

The hearty food box understates the amount of meat. The other, well, you would not want to take it home to meet the vicar.

Seems like double may refer to two things

1. Double the number of pepperoni pieces but not quantity
2. Double the cheese

Outrageous. If I was Boris Johnson working in the Tesco marketing department I would resign immediately. Strangely enough having eaten both ( with enough beers ) the more expensive one is better simply due to the far better crust (you can even see that in the picture). When you are bottom feeding these things matter. Not sure that "Better crust than that other one" will ever sell more than " DOUBLE PEPPERONI" to be honest.

Any other marketing packet photographic nirvana to eating woe stories?

The other good one is where the box has a window so you can see the toppings, but when you open the box there's bugger all on the half that's not visible throgh the window ranting

I think it's Aldi, but they have a chateaubriand. It looks a great price (£10?) but is packaged really cleverly. The meat is vac packed with 95% of it outside the packaging with the cardboard over the other 5%. The other space under the cardboard contains the sauce.
It looks like the meat is 8-10 inches long when really it's only about 4"!

If you re-arranged the 'pork' products on the Tesco special, it would look like is says on the box.
This looks like a Friday afternoon pizza where the slave driven workforce were clocking off.

Add some jalapenos and some extra cheese to taste.

I think the 'RIstorante' brand ones are a little better. Those both look naff.
