Hi everybodys,

When looking on pinking threads i saw that a leak could occure between the valve and the distributor...i retightned the the two torx screws (very loose) but they both get in "free spin" as i tried to rescrew them a bit harder...

I then removed the alternator cap to see if i can figure it out but the rotor is at the same level and now way to see the "other side" of where they should stay... i also find out that the valve was almost falling by herself and that the screw where hanging anything anymore. I could move the valve from a few deg/mm.

My first question please: may i have deregulate something by playing with the valve from a few mm(does it by herself when removing the cap!)??

Second question pls. How can i get these extra-mini screw(it seams there are not broken at all) to bite in these two holes on the distributor (these holes are a few mm to big, dont seems to be threaded and the screw are not even long enough to go thrue the whole hole!)? Do you think the tread are just destroyed and i will have to rethread it and put bigger, non-torx smile screws?

Thats your vacuum advance unit, those 2 bolts are usually threaded.
Its more than likely the distributor will need to come out to re tap them.
You can temporarily blank it off by removing the small pipe at the plenum and putting a bolt in it if your having problems.
Some cars run with it connected others dont, it improves your cruising mpg.
Lots of discussion regarding it on here lately.

Yes. But you may be able to find a 'self tapping' screw to do the job without taking the dizzy out.

The screws are there just to hold the vacuum unit in place. There is no need for it to be sealed there is no vacuum or air flow at that point. The rubber seal in your photo is only to stop dirt/water getting in.
