Hello folks,
I am looking for a way to get better sound from my 70 inch LG TV. I have a pair of B&W floor standing speakers and want to hopefully use those as my TV speakers.
I really am confused when it comes to audio kit so any specific product suggestions would be appreciated.
I want to keep things pretty minimal as it's only a smallish room.
I have around 600 pounds to spend.

I had thought of selling the B&W speakers and buying a Zeppelin for TV sound and also home music.
Would this be a reasonable plan.
I am not looking for fantastic music as my ears aren't that clever but better sound for the TV coupled with nice sounds for music would be good.
C'mon folks, spend my money!

You have the speakers, all you need is an amp to drive them. smile

Lots of options there and you don't need to spend a huge amount, I'd go for something with digital input for connecting the TV.

What amp drives the speakers at the moment? I’d be surprised if you needed to spend anything to get good stereo sound.

Optical out from the tv into the amp. You will then be able to listen to any source sonnected to the tv. Sky, blurry, appletv etc.

The Zeppelin is good for music but poor for TV. I tried it with my father-in-law and was quite disappointed. Very overblown and muddy.

I use a Naim Mu-so and it’s superb with both. I fact, my wife commented just last night how good Star Trek: Into Darkness sounded given how busy the soundtrack is.

Another vote for the Muso. If you can afford it, it’s awesome.

I don't doubt that its good, but is it awesome for a soundbar or still awesome when compared to the OPs other option of a decent amp to power his B&W floorstanders?

There's no point going down that route of discussion. The OP needs to hear a Muso, preferably at home. They're a great box, but if you want to play complex prog rock with the volume at 11, there could be disappointment. Listening to cool jaaaazz in a showroom won't be a fair demo for most of us.

Why not? It seems very relevant to the OP's question - he has the floorstanders already, a good amp is well within his budget and a Muso is well outside it. So the Muso would have to suit his needs much better to justify the extra cost.

OP - as an example, something like this is well under your budget: https://www.richersounds.com/hi-fi/amplifiers-rece...

Thanks All,
I have currently a Denon AVR2311 home theater receiver thingy.
Its never been particularly straight forward to use and when HDMI'd to my TV via the ARC socket it seems to choose when to work.
Also, First World problem, the cleaner tend to move it and press buttons thereby stuffing up my settings.
I need simple!

Fire.the cleaner. Job done.

Arc is a pain I disconnected mine and use straight forward hdmi and select the input myself.

I would keep everything you have, then get a harmony remote.

Set it up properly and then every time you turn the system on using the remote, it will reset to a working configuration.

If it's outside the budget, no need to discuss further.

If it's within budget, demo required, no need to discuss further.

The AVR2311 is a bit long in the tooth now. So I'd actually replace this like for like and invest in a centre speaker and maybe even some surrounds to go with your floor standers. You can get a capable 4K ready 5 or 7 channel amp for £300 which leaves you £300 for

I've yet to hear a £600 one box solution that is as good as a mid level AV amp and decent speakers. Of course if aesthetics are a consideration then the soundbar option may well be required.
