In case anyone is following from the Car Buyer Forum:

Car with Audi Guildford and just failed it’s MOT.
£££ starting

4 x Bridgestone 245 45 18 100Y AO going on
Some other stuff also...
Parking sensors not working
Some exterior trim/alignment
Shuddering brakes
Etc

Looking forward to driving once fixed, the car has been in since Saturday

That looks really nice. Is the Audi main dealer the right place to take a car of that age?? I am in Guildford too and use the dealerships for the service only to get the stamp in the book (cars are 1 year and 7 years old) but the price they charge for tyres etc is crazy!

Even one dealership quoted me on tyres the other week and said,"but you won't want to pay that much to buy them from us...."

Thanks and agree - they price matched with Halfords at £135 each :-).

They are doing an interim service at - £255
Parking sensor fix and system check etc - £380
Brake fluid change - £50

Rear disks and pads were around £400 but they may price match also - tbc

Bodywork stuff going to Fast Lane

I'm in the Guildford area (used to live there) and have used SE Autoworks (near the station) for the past 8 or so years for my 2.T A6...
..I suspect they will be slightly better VFM, and at least, if not more knowledgeable than the main dealer

Thanks will look them up.

The car looks to have a good service history with the cambelt done at 64k and all done within the Audi dealer network.

Too much conflicting information on gearbox servicing, seems better just to hold a slush fund and if needed, it goes to ZF for a rebuild.

Read similar horror stories online with my old 997 engine, M3 vanos and gearbox etc. Usual consensus is that people don’t go online to say how wonderful everything is when it’s working, just when it breaks.

Picking up my car tomorrow, MOT’d at an Audi dealership with no advisories must have doubled it’s value ;-)

Jobs done - 4 x Bridgestones, brake fluid, rear disks and pads, new parking sensors, service, MOT, road test and system check. £1,700
