A bit of a rookie question. What is a good vendor / choice of burger for a BBQ?
We usually buy the Aberdeen Angus ones from the local Morrison’s, but while they taste good tend to come up a little small on the diameter side of things and look somewhat lost in the bun.
So I’m looking for something larger in diameter and maybe slightly thinner to cook through more quickly.
I don’t want to go down the home made route and the budget won’t stretch to Harrods food hall or Fortnum and Masons.

Advice is very much appreciated.

Why not make your own? Chuck in some mustard, Worcester sauce and ketchup for flavour. Plus seasoning.

I'd seriously consider doing home made smash burgers. Get some half decent mined beef/steak, divide it up into portions (say 125-150g) and roll each one into a ball. Brush or spray the meatball with some oil (I use rapeseed oil in a spray) and then put them on a griddle on the bbq and squash them flat with a spatula. Or, if you don't have a griddle, squash them into flat discs with the spatula and then put them on the bbq to cook.

So far this season

Waitrose 4pack Apple or the spicer ones work well
Tesco finest very good
Costco Wagu ... stunning but ££
Slimming world burgers frozen don’t really work that great a bit like their sausages
Costco frozen Aberdeen Angus budgets - for a frozen burger Work very well.

We’ve done a few home made this year - once a few didn’t hold together .... but when doing a bbq for a number of people just buy as home made burgers and sausages are a lot of effort

The Costco Wagyu burgers are extraordinarily good.

Thanks for the replies. As mentioned I want something larger diameter and thinner. A lot of the wagu, finest etc.. seem to be small diameter but thicker.
Think the size and thickness of the “classic” burger van burger, but not made of mashed up Dalmatian and horse meat.

i'm the same i don't like the small, fat burgers so i simply flatten them out

the M&S "best burger ever" or whatever it was called has been the best supermarket burger i've experienced recently

They do lamb burgers and another fresh pack of 12 1/4lbs they work nicely too.
Usually a few of us and I can do two budgets or make a Big Mac plus the bbq usual. However these Costco burgers no chance

I know you don't want to make your own, but surely you can squish a small, thick disc into a larger, thin disc?

Place burger onto the chopping board
Get rolling pin
Downward pressure on the burger and a slight roll movement.

Or if you have a weight with a face bigger than the burger then put that on top and press

Not sure if your taking the kids but if you cannot flatten out a fat burger don’t ever ever ever touch any tools of any kind
