Police Video White Lines
Discussion
It's a new initiative. The police are now videoing white lines. It may take some senior officers a while to realise that the lines don't actually do anything, but as it gets the 'beat bobbies' out of doing paperwork they're not unhappy about it.
I am surprised however, that they should advertise the fact. After all, the well-established instruction sign:
POLICE
SLOW
doesn't seem to have any effect ... I have never seen a police car slow down when passing them.
That they should advertise the fact that they will be videoing white lines seems to me to be both a waste of money and unlikely to engender any greater respect from the public.

Maybe the police should re-word their signs, which they bring out every Mayday for the bike run to Hastings. I think they are trying to tell bikers not to overtake on the wrong side of double white lines, which always seems to happen due to extreme congestion going to Hastings.
Trying to reach Hastings via the A21 on Mayday is frankly, suicidal. I much prefer taking an alternative route and have a significantly better chance of arriving in one piece.

At least one motorcyclist attending the event was killed on his way home. The police knew he had been at the event as he visited their safety stand.
There was another motorcyclist killed in East Sussex yesterday too, but the last time I saw the news it didn;t say if he had been at the event.
