Righto, need some help as loosing the will.
Want to change out of my Diesel A6 into a something that will make the hairs stand up with some nice noise and fun driving and genuine feel special car, can do the family stuff with camping/trips and also be able to have a tow bar fitted for the mountain bikes.

As much as I love the A6 and can be fun to drive fast it doesn't make the right noises for me and want out of the black stuff.

I've ruled out anything Audi/VW as I want a change, anything AMG is out as no tow bars (except the latest E43 which I do quite like), SUV's I'm not entirely sure I like them although most would do the family stuff.

Budget is ~50K, any thoughts or am I pipe dreaming?

How often do you tow? The reason I ask is because I'd go about it a different way because at this price point you can buy a nice performance SUV & that will take care of you needs or you could do it a different way:

If you tow quite a lot I'd buy one of these :

Or if you want to be a bit more sensible:

Both of the above have the added benefit of having some Manufacturer's Warranty left or being able extend it.

Then you can land yourself a nice fast car that you can get the family in should you need to & still have a great big smile on your face.

Lexus IS-F

A bigger leftfield option is the VXR8:

If you don't tow that often say once a month then I'd go this way:

3.6 Grand Cherokee

3.0d

That way you get a nice sized super saloon as you'll be spending the majority of your time in it, test drive some of these & see what gives you the biggest grin:

VXR8 GTS there are 580 reasons to at least test drive one of these plus they're a lot easier to maintain then there German rivals.

By going this way the cars are different enough that you'll appreciate the performance car when you get in it.
