Thanks guys, what about generally being cheaper to insure, etc cause of smaller engine?
Why do you really want to change your Golf for a Fiesta? You can do your own sums and get your own insurance quotes?
Generally changing one shopping car for another similar one to chase pennies is a mug’s game because changing cars costs money and carries risk. Better the devil you know.
The 1.0 ecoboost has gearing more suited to City work on the Motorway I'd be surprised if they get better fuel because you'll be working the engine & gearbox more (remember you'll be missing a fair chunk of torque too) so it comes down if you just want to change because you want something new.
Also how much extra are you spending to get the Fiesta?
How much are you really going to save on insurance?
Are you really going to save much on fuel?
I'd stick with what you have.

Yes i can do my own sums, and get insurance quotes, but as theres a lot of people on here who already own said cars, its always nice to hear the other side! I work in a large car dealership, and see hundreds of cars come through everyday, and as I have a 2 hour commute each day, am always looking at ways of cutting costs! Hence why im looking at a less 'heavy' car than a 2 litre diesel.
That golf engine (presuming it is a PD) will do starship mileage if you service it well, the 1.0 ecoboost has reliability problems (not sure if ironed out)
Only downside is your golf sounds like a tractor....
There is a reason 2009 golf PD cars still command 3k upwards
Also honestjohn said never to buy a 1.0 ecoboost second hand as they are complicated engines that will probably of been thrashed by first and second owners....avoid
