The above publication wish to do a feature on the club as it celebrates its 21st year , they have recently done the same for the Dutton Owners Club so this is our chance to publicise the benefits of owning a "classic" kit car and belonging to the club.

As I have been approached to write said article I am now looking for photographs of early club events and details of any vehicles that may have remained in the same ownership throughout the club's existance or members who have always had at least one Jago continuously since '84 .

I would like to focus on the diversity of the Jago range so if you own a Samuri or have a particularly unusual engine conversion in your Geep then I would also like to hear from you.

Deadline for submitted information has to be 22nd of May to enable me to compose the article within the magazine's proposed timescale.

Pressure what pressure..........?

Cheers

Mark

Apathy rules ..OK,
I guess I really don't fit in with the criteria set for the article for Kit Car, as I've only had my Jeep for 10 months although it feels like years, but I am willing to try and offer something.....perhaps if we swap a few e-mails/msn Mark?
Cheers
Gerry (and before anyone asks...I'm not Syke's brother)
(add-on)...as I was around in those early days...I can offer something Mark....How many words do you want mate?
(Add-on No. II)....Mark....please check your e-mail...hope it's OK....cheers, Gerry

***BUMPED***

C'mon everybody! Surely someones been around the club for a while. Any input will help - i suppose whats important is the club now and the future - but where we've been over the last 21 years doubly so.

Swizz...

I am not trying to upstage Tonka, but I have trained and worked as a journalist, my present job includes journalism amongst the many skills required. Given a few facts and figures I could cobble together an article.

The article wants to be posotive, forward looking, should not dig at old sores and air club politics. The aim is to encourage people to keep their Jagos on the road and emphasise the benefits of belonging to the club.

Here is the list of facts I need.

(1) (a) How many people formed the original JOC? (b)Names of prime movers would be good. (c) Did Geoff Jago give any support.

(2) (a) What was the effect on the club of Jago's ceasing production. (b) Total Jago production. - I think already given on another thread.

(3) Present Club membership figures.

(4) Discounts and services offered to members.

(5) Club events.

Give me that lot in note form and I will give you a polished article say 1000 or 1500 words within 36 hours.

As well as long articles how about a list of post factory modifications/ "useful ideas that I'm sure everyone knows about but don't need to be reminded of again" etc It would be good tohave a listof great andoriginal ideas all in one spot. If everyone on the forum posted one idea/ observation about their vehicle it would bea fair list
There are so many new and old Jago owners who may not have done much research into the development of the vehicle and presume that their vehicle is a good example when in fact it could be rapidly improved or have just oneof the annoying things fixed as a result of seeing it in print. Any good?

As an example we had been thinking of ways to prevent hard doors from opening beyond 95 degrees and bashing the mirrors,(yet still remaining capable of being removed.) Got another Jeep the other day that was using an old seat belt buckle for the job!!Detatchable restraint mechanism!!!! While this may be old hat to Jago veterans and purists we were most impressed.

Txtr.

I think the points you make are valid for articles in Transmissions. In this case it is the converted talking to the converted. The club mag should carry how to articles and handy tips.

However the aim of the Total Kit Car feature is to sell membership of the Jago Owners Club to all the people out there who own or would like to own a Jago.

I agree Transmissions should carry technical articles and a handy hints page , however as soon as I mention on the forum that I am looking for imput from the membership it all goes strangely quiet.......

Jon has kindly provided me with an article covering the initial purchase of his Geep , perhaps all new members would care to do a short piece on how they came to own a Jago and join the club.....

I am not short of articles for submission it just would be nice to hear from a few more of you , after all we all find time to punch out a fair few words on here every week........

As regards the TotalKitCar article I have had some imput from one of our more longterm members but am happy to receive anything , especially pictures of past club events.

Cheers

Mark

If I'm not very much mistaken I asked the question on here on 3rd May , however apathy rules , people always assume someone else will probably do it so they dont have to bother helping out , and I will not beg people or twist their arms to get a reaction.

I would like answers to those pertinent questions also seeing as I was originally asked to write the article , and some people have kindly offered some information , I dont have the necessary qualifications/CV but I will give it my best shot which so far has been more than good enough and shown 110% commitment on my part.

If I sound p*ssed off , too right these things are not produced from thin air , I had resisted rising to the bait set earlier , but sod it , if you do something right no one remembers , if you do something wrong no one ever forgets , aint that the truth!

Some people just love using this forum to be antaganistic or just downright condecending , aint that the truth also!!!!!!!!!!

Instead of frantically typing away to produce some light relief for the readership maybe I ought to get back in my garage and work on my ever increasing fleet of Jagos , sorry guys I dont do politics.......

Mention 'Kit Car' and we get a two pager which gives a pretty good illustration of car club life. You only have to scroll thru' some of the previous content of this Forum to get a good indication of the 'qualities' of the JOC membership at all levels. I agree with you entirely Mark. Keep up the good work.

inatead of the antagonistic remarks perhaps time would be better spent answering the questions as asked earlier in this thread?
your efforts are much appreciated Mark by myself and the majority of the Members
if we fail to supply the info to create an interesting article this can only be bad for the club free publicity is a valuable asset

Hi Mark,
I have at last been spurred into writing my thoughts in a semi lucid format, (which may or may not be exactly what you want!!) and sent directly to your e mail, address keep up the good work.

You are quite right it is a thankless task but as a famous religious leader once said as he hopped into his Jago with 12 mates* (is that a record??- publicity stunt for Newark?)

"Always look on the bright side of life!"

* No religious minorities were persecuted in producing this post

I'm sorry guys, I seem to have a happy knack of putting my foot in it every time I post here.

I meant, why didn't someone just ask me directly on email for the club history?

I'm not unapproachable, just busy.

I have color pictures of the first jago event, that just need scanning and a memory that just needs prompting. and negatives of most of the memorable events that ever took place - the originals I made up onto a 4x3 foot board that was last seen with the club trophies...

seems that my replies directly to mark may not have got through!

is it too late?

A pic of the first ever meeting:

L-R

forgot - Paul King - Brian Steer - Vince Pett - my ex-wife - forgot - forgot - forgot....

The Geep that Paul King is sitting on rolled over complete with caravan on the M4 while we were travelling in convoy from a weekend meet with the South Wales Kit Car Club - but that's another long story....
