Went yesterday to watch racing. I thought only turbo versions used on track. Race 5, Class 2. What has allowed to be done to these cars. Well impressed with how they went particulary no21 Tom Segrue, looked like on rails. Whats the set up?

See May edition of 911 & Porsche World for a good insight.

I've driven a race prepared 944 with 190 bhp (not the S2)on a track day and if the suspension is set up well for the circuit, they handle very nicely. Some issues with traction out of the bends though.

Cheers

Wasn't racing so confined to watching from the banks and wandering around the pits to see fellow racers!

My car is currently undergoing a re-shell, so I should be ready for Pembrey on the 14/15th May. Fingers crossed.

Btw - did anyone see Richard Chamberlain's 935 in the Open (race 7). 800bhp monster that handles. I think they said it could hit 150 mph around Avon Rise.

Un****ing believable.

Yeh that monster has been around for quite a while, but personally can't realy see the fun in being so far out on ya own you lap the entire field myself.

Still 1min 7 sec laps are pretty darn quick!

Tim, that explains why I could not recall seeing car 47 as programmed. Can you post a pic of your car so that we know who to cheer on next time.

As for 935 it is a brutal piece of machinery. Looks the part and does the buisness.
Unlike the GT2's and 3's racing. They do look 'extremely unatractive' with all those wings ontop of wings and other add on bits. Best thing to do is to finish the job and paint them canary yellow.

Hi Henry,

Were you there then?

That’s definitely the 935 car I saw and illustrates my point. Its so over the top with its rear wings, front and side appendages that it takes on the look of a complete entity in its own right. Design wise it looks right. It has little finesse or subtlety. It looks brutal. It is a fine piece of artistry from the Brutalist School.
The poor GT3’s and 2’s on the other hand are neither fish nor fowl. They are sadly too understated to be classed brutal and lack the design detailing and refinement of their previous 911 style incarnations. They are neither from the Brutalist School nor the refined enough to be from the Romantic School of design.

But then beauty is always in the eye of the beholder.

Did I imagine it then? I’m sure I did see some Gt’s with carbon fibre type wide wings on top of lower smaller body coloured wings. Sorry to be so non-specific, but I’m not an expert on the various actual cars that were racing on Monday.

If I’m wrong, thank you for your concern but its not my glasses, please tell me where I can get some more of the beer as served at quarry!

As a regular visitor to your excellent web site I would have credited you with more of a sense of humour and less inclined to court controversy with possible future customers. Cheers.

Bob

This plastic thing has some remnants of 993 but it's not really a 935 ...

Looks gloriously ugly and fast, though
