Is there anyone who is a PC with Avon and Somerset on here? Happy to be emailed if you would prefer not to mention it on here.

Currently have an application with another force, but considering transferring my assessment centre result to A&S.

If your female and or not identified as white British yes.

They are desperate for my diversity and still seem to push aside white British males.

I have a friend in that force.

I used to be.

It would help immensely if you were from an ethnic minority or disabled. ( a female former colleague of mine was told this when she asked for an application form)

Transvestism maybe an option worth considering.

Wouldn’t it be great if the best person for the job got it. Don’t care what they look like if I’ve dialled 999 for help. If only the government and forces thought so.

Yea, also do you mind painting your nails rainbow colours and driving round in astra with a rainbow colour scheme and engaging with the LBGT community while PSCOs are left to answer urgent calls.

If you are assaulted by a drunk homeless person and you get mixed up with being hit but a closed fist or open hand on an official statement and CCTV evidence is viewed you will be slapped with charges and dragged through the courts. Or maybe thats only white british staff they do that to!

It's all about Political Correct with A&S! Policing and effectiveness are very low on the priority list.

Given the Bijan Ebrahimi case which resulted in two officers going to jail, two others sacked, a dozen others on misconduct charges and the force described as "insititutionally racist", I'm unsurprised that A&S is looking to make the force more diverse. On the other hand you can be cutting off your nose to spite your face if you're turning down good candidates because they're not in those categories.

They also got into trouble a while back for 'positive discrimination' ie chucking applications from white males in the bin..

In my day the interview was pretty much:

'You're a big lad. Do you play Rugby?'

'Yes Sir'

' Can you start next Monday?'

Both genuine questions from my interview!

They take the mixkey, friend of mine got good a levels, then did public service btec getting a distinction.

So he applies for regulars and gets rejexted. He tries again for pcso makes interview and they state at 21 he is not old enough for the role!

He gets accepted by military police and waits to be called to training.

So he applies for specials and flys straight through and was a special for two years.

He applies for regs and still no. So jacks specials.

All because he is white British as he is a really good around officer.

He applies to civil and nuclear and 5 years in and loving it.
