I'm too noisy, it's official!

I'd been out for a run in the Tiv a week or so ago and I returned home and shuffled the cars around to get the S parked back inside the garage and I was just getting out the car when my neighbour had entered my drive and banged on my side window.
I jumped out and she complained about the noise from my car (I was only parking it, not revving up) and that she had put her 3 yr old to bed and I'd wake her up. So I apologised and said I didn't realise and wouldn't do it again thinking that it must be rather late.
When I got back inside the house I looked at the clock and it was only just 8pm, so at 7:45 my neighbour considers it too late for me to use my car.
I understand her request had I been sitting outside demonstrating to a load of fellow PH'ers how loud my car could be but on reflection I think that her complaint was unjust.
If her child wakes and will not return to sleep and becomes a troublesome child all night because a car passes her house surely that can't be normal?
And when I was sleeping in until 8am the other sunday morning her child was outside screaming at 7am and I never said anything, I just got up and forgot about having an extra hour in bed.
Can't neighbours be a real pain in the butt!

Had a curfew with my mini, imposed by a load of the residents in my street when I was at Uni. A load of them turned up on my doorstep the week I moved in threatening to go to my landlords if I didn't agree. 7:30 was the latest I was allowed to start the car up.
It was only a 1 litre.
I resorted to pushing the car in and out of the garage. Don't think you could do that with a Tiv though.
Just tell her to keep her kids quiet or indoors. Or hold a TVRCC meet at your house.

That's a good idea Chris. 
I have an S3 and I also have three kids under five....when they are all finally in bed and I sneak out for my evening 'S fix' I have to push it out of the integral garage and start it on the drive...quietly...then I mustn't blip the throttle to lose the ignition light, but move off gently until I'm right down the road before I hit the noise pedal...you have to take a balanced view of these things y'know....Paulo.
I hate it when people claim their children are 'disturbed' by noise.
My youngest slept whilst travelling in a convoy of 8 wedges.
She also fell asleep during a Who concert, much to my disgust
And yesterday despite struggling to stay awake at a Kylie concert she fell asleep.
Just remind said neighbour that when 'little darling' starts throwing parties that curfew will be 7:30.

I went to the Kylie concert last week at the NEC too, of course i bought the wife tickets for her birthday & she forced me to go.
Anyway, my friends deliberately made loads of noise when they first had babies, put them to bed & then ran the hoover round every night.
They now sleep through anything & are so well behaved naturally as they got the sleep they needed.

My three kids are used to noise, I can go out and start the V8s any time and none of them will wake !
Having said that I must say if I was coming home late at night (like after 11:00) then I'd be quite careful with the throttle so as not to make too much noise to annoy the neighbours.
But your neighbours are definately a little too picky, 7:30 is Still way early, altho My 2 Year old is asleep from 7:00.
But I didn't wake her tonight while screaming at the Liverpool-Chelsea game !!! Gudjonson (SP) chance at end near had me in a cardiac ambulance ! Im a Liverpool supporter so when the Final Whistle went I let a MASSIVE scream outta me !!

Noise ? Vibration ? About 10 years ago when a pal and I were returning from the RAC Classic in my Grantura he fell asleep (OK he was navigator) at 70mp on the southbound A34 which impressed me quite a lot......
