Exscuse me for asking (I am kinda new to this whole Lotus thing) but would 30k be about the going rate for a new 111R with metallic paint and touring pack?

YES..... if you are new to all of this, test drive it first as well as the other models available.
Some have said that they wished they had bought other versions of the Elise other than the 111R, usually they end up wanting the Exige. Havnt heard anytone say they wanted the 111S instead though

Sorry should have said.

That is about the going rate, but I managed to make saving going through a Broker. Ended up being sourced by Stattons, but there was a significant saving involved. I would suggest trying a couple of those first too.
I used www.Micronetshowroom.com

i tried a broker and all i got was hassle, promissed the world delivered nothing. surprisingly it was micronetshowroom, the same as the previous contributor. ended up going through Lotus factory. no discounts there then..... I have heard that there are discounts to be had if you haggle with dealers though. IMO i'd steer well clear of brokers.

Thanks for the replys guys.

I did check out Micronet and Drive the Deal, and they both quoted about 29k. Micronet doesn't seem to have the best of reputations though. Prefer face to face through a dealer though.

I have driven both cars on a fairly decent test drive.
Like a few people on here I was fairly sure I was going for the 'S' (I suppose I have a bit of a soft spot for the K) but the 'R' seemed more entertaining. The thing that put me off the 'S' was the brakes, which I thought were pretty poor.

I am not that fussed about leccy windows or central locking, but I would like the extra sound proofing and carpet (call me a wuss if you like), but the dealer said you have got to have all (the touring pack) or nothing. Anybody know different?

Touring pack includes all that you are after and more. If you only want a few of the options, then seriosly think about after sales options. Touring pack was £2000, not sure if it still is. My only requirment was for the Driving lights, so I left the touring pack alone and will order those later. In the end, my car came with carpets and Foot rest anyway, no idea why.

On the subject of Micronet. For me they were pretty good, deleivery time of 10-12 weeks turned out to be 9 weeks. Cost was £2000 less than anyone else would quote. I did have to constantly hassle them for updates, emails every week initially and then every other day in the week leading upto delivery, but they always responded. Payment wasnt difficult as they accepted a BS Cheque on collection.
Everything else is now done via my local Lotus Dealer, Westovers in my case. So all in all a fairly nice experience. Would do it again to save £2000

Thanks once again guys.

I am in a particuarly sad mood today as I sold my MG F Trophy 160 last night. Despite getting a decent price, a cash buyer and it didn't even cost me anything to advertise it I still feel disapointed its gone. And the funny thng was that the chap that bought it is coming from an Elise.

Oh well on to bigger and better things.....

Mustard like the intro on your site! I will give you a ring (shall I ask for Mustard?)

Do some research on micronet showroom before using them...

www.blagger.com/scripts/db4.php?company_id=2669&companyname=Micronet%20Showroom

I'm not saying don't use them, just keep your eyes open...
