Series 1 Peugeot 106 Rallye

So after an unsuccessful attempt at buying another series 1 a couple of years ago which turned out to be abit of a rusty mess, I've still wanted to have another more original series 1. I can't really say what draws me to them, but whenever I see one, I want it, so now I have two.
The first one which I started a thread about here https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&... is sat in a friends workshop, waiting for us to get around to welding it up and will probably end up being a track car as its already been converted to the 16 valve engine.
A couple of weeks ago a friend pointed me to an advert on Facebook for an original series 1, this being a Monday and the car being about 5 hours away from me I wasn't able to get to see it until the weekend and I spent a whole week hoping no one beat me to it. Fortunately, the seller could tell my enthusiasm for the car and held off any other viewers until I had been to see the car, he had 4 people lined up to view the car on the day I could make it down. It didn't take me long to decide it was coming home with me.
The car is pretty original and will be staying that way. I'm in the process of doing a full service and replacing a few bushes that are looking abit worn and then its going to get driven until I put it away for the winter.

Excellent. My sister had an XSi back in the day, I used to borrow it as often as possible and loved every minute. My only two issues with it were the lack of space for the pedals and realising that visually I was far too big for it (I saw my reflection in a shop window getting out if it one day).
I was going to buy it from her as a track car but had to many cars already. Good luck with it.

More fun, behaves better on the limit of traction, more forgiving, not as sharp on turn in or steering feel.Only slightly slower than the 1.6 in a straight line, overal grip slightly less on the track due to skinnier tyres, on real imperfect roads differences become closer.
Sadly being rather long legged I found the 106 a little cramped and squished pedals, where the 205 with the seat fully back was spot on.

Might be worth retro fitting a bucket seat if you have no kids. You can always fit the original seat back in when it comes to reselling which won't have worn anymore.

.... And pretty much perfect in every way!
There is just something about 106's of this era that makes them so right, and yours looks like a cracking example.

Looks great - congratulations. I have a 205 1.9 GTI but have always liked the idea of a 106 Rallye or GTI.
Not sure whether you've found them yet, but there are a few previous sales showing online (e.g. Gumtree), plus pics of it being dechavved - in addition to bumpers, skirts and mirrors showing in the pic below, someone has since put an original interior back in and original steelies.

I loved my black one you bought from me. Not the most perfect but I loved it.I prefer the S1 over the S2 I had and 205 GTi i still have.
Lucky enough to have a GT3 now but would still kill for an S1
