Just flew over Rugby, heading south, at probably 750'

4 engines, propeller
Low wing, very graceful shape, like an elongated Spitfire wing
Single fin and low tailplane with quite a bit of dihedral on it
It was a bit like an Electra or a Viscount, but I am 99% sure that the sound was from a piston aircraft
Nice looking thing...had a look at FR24 but could not see anything...any ideas?

D'oh...I thought I knew my planes but somehow totally forgot about the DC-6. Never seen one in the flesh before...what a stunning looking thing it is!

The DC-6 does not have a dihedral tailplane. It's pretty much dead flat. The Viscount and the Vanguard both had tailplanes with quite sharp dihedrals but there are no airworthy examples.

A De Havilland Heron sounds like a good bet to me.

Does anyone with an FR24 subscription thing or similar have the ability to see where N415SA is?
