2005 320clk, management,light, loss of power..limp mode help

Gotta 2005 320 clk @ 130,000 been in limp mode for a day, used it today & engine management light Comes...on and still in limp mode,before i take it for diagnostics,any basics to try or look for,Any help appreciated...
