I know several people unable to own numerous cars for different days/situations including my neighbour. He has the same (up to) £15,000 he got for his classic Ford Capri to buy a car which is fast, spacious, powerful, economical, good quality and good-enough looking. A car to trawl the length of Britain but then rip away down a quiet A road with venom. He is asking a lot but i straight away thought of my current 335D coupe, my old Golf R, maybe a Leon Cupra R, Audi S3, there are many that spring to mind.
What are the real do it all cars in your view? Say since 2003?

If it has to perform family duties too then I'd say one of these:

Save a bit of change to add the remap as they had the torque taken out to make them feel more like an N/A & make sure the Haldex service has been done.

These are in the same league as the above & a call to Stasis will make it come alive, again check the Haldex service has been carried out.

How about something a bit different, an MG ZT V8, possibly the estate one?

If nothing else, if he tries one and doesn't like it, they seem to be at the point where they're holding money at worst, so it shouldn't leave him out of pocket.
