Hi,

I know the 2.0 VAG diesel, as fitted to Audi A4/6s from about 2004, had big problems due to the oil pump being driven from the balancer shafts. Two related questions which i haven't managed to answer through searching:

1. Is there a year after which these were all fixed from new? Does this have a particular engine code?

2. Is it likely that any 2.0 still running at over 100k miles has had this issue fixed? Are there particular things to look for in the service history?

Advice welcome!

Not sure if this is best in the Audi forum or here....

There's the Pump Deuce engine, and the Common Rail engine, I assume the issue you refer to would have been on the PD. Different manufacturers moved on the CR at different times so worth checking. My 2009 Octavia if the first of the CRs, but I think Audi switched over sooner. I'm currently on 120k miles with no issues other than one a crap dealer caused.
