Not something I have ever looked into, and currently doing some research into it. But figured it was worth asking in here. So I am a little more clued up when I start making calls.

Currently reviewing a possible business venture, which would be app based for convenience.

Obviously app development costs can be astronomical depending on how advanced the app is. So I am wondering on ways the development cost can be minimised / sped up.

We are in the position to do the concepting, design & UX ourselves. We just need someone to pull it together into a working app, which would also ultimately work with a developed algorithm. Unsure on whether an app developer would work this way?

At the moment we are just looking to create a proof of concept in order to secure investment & the buy in from a potential business partner, and a working prototype could really help land the concept. Hence why we are wanting to keep costs in check.

As a side note does anyone know of some app wireframing / software service that means we can rough out a working prototype?

Thanks

Thanks for the response

For what its worth - I have been particularly vague on the details.

The app functionality isn't beyond anything that already exists on some pretty low level apps. No other company is doing this yet, its pretty specialist - but that wouldn't matter if they were. The primary investor will have an understanding of the market and an awareness of the "mysterious" algorithm.

Essentially all I wanted to do is create a working mock up to help land the idea. But never mind. A google has shown up JustinMind which will be perfect for our needs at this point without the need to involve a Dev.

App Inventor from MIT will allow you to create a prototype.

We do app dev, happy to offer a fellow PH’er 15 mins of my time and refer any technical dev questions to my colleagues, under NDA of course.

There is a lot to consider !

Is this a web app or mobile app?

Either way, look at Zoho Creator.

I run a company that specialises in app development if you need any more advice.

My staff do our app development in Xamarin, which is now owned by Microsoft. I used to be a dev a long time ago and I can honestly say for me personally, App development is just non intuitive and not something that you can just pick up and run with.

Can I suggest you just do your design on paper initially. Most companies wouldnt touch something you have started. Your paper design can follow the step by step applications functionality and you could get a design company to make nice polished versions of these to show potential investors.

We have done proof of concepts for clients previously, it allowed them to visualise their idea and keep the costs down.

I was also going to suggest Adobe XD for the mockup.
