I ended up watching this last night (nothing on the Biased Broadcasting Carp) and did of course pay some attention to the chase sequence with the F30 (?) M3.

I had to chuckle, as it was so obviously re-engined with a naturally aspirated V8, of the S65 variety.

I know, I know, its the soundtrack not reality, but I do wonder who motivated the production to do this? BMW themselves? They paid handsomely to get their products plastered into just about every scene, so I guess it was them.

I wonder why...

I thought the M4 was F80, and the M3 F30? Bloody confusing.....

And in 2014/15 when the film was made.....it was BC. Before Competition pack.

Specsavers do hearing tests now.

I am sure I heard that somewhere....;-)

F80 = M3, F82 = M4, F83 = M4 Conv.

Come on keep up at the back! I was only joking about it sounding like mine as you say sounded very S65 ish.

Thought you guys would have noticed the change of wheels rather than the sound...

M3 alloys changed for something rather smaller in many scenes. rolleyes

Probably needed extra tyre sidewall depth going down the steps, not sure that the issue with that is though, rolling eyes?

Most of the brutal stuff (going down the steps, for example) was shot with the Not Actually An M3 limited edition version....hence the tiny wheels

Could it have been a subtle Nerd-alert hint?

Not many around here, in my experience...

Indeed, some don't even know their vehicle codes....biggrin

That M3 takes such a hammering in those scenes though, I guess it had all sorts of mods to get it through the filming.

I might have to actually watch the Bluray extras, but I am pretty certain that several 320Ds were sacrificed, and not so many M3s.

And it is E92.

I know that one

The Old Girl is doing very well, thanks.

Still enjoying every journey, just wish my heel/toe technique was better....

Must post some more autobahn videos, including the embarrassing Audi one. Good for a larf...

An oldie but a goodie - what a place, what a car. Will try to find and upload the relevant autobahn videos. Good for a giggle.

Next lap was even better, but the memory card was full!

Honest....

I have known the instructor for years, and once he trusts you to go hard, he will really push. Scared myself considerably, several times on that next lap, especially in Miss/Hit/Miss which was accompanied by much hysterical laughter...

The good old days. Sadly BMW training is nowhere near as entertaining these days. Very conservative, which is why I have jumped ship to Audi.
