Assuming no family/work ties you would love to live...and why?

I'll go for Pickering in North Yorkshire, close to the coast, the beautiful North York Moors (Heartbeat country) and the terminus of the NYM railway.

Great Langdale.

No phone. Stunning. Great walks. Nice pubs with interesting people when needed.

Tenby in Pembrokeshire.

Because it’s beautiful, the people are friendly and it’s just great, I would love to buy the old lifeboat station on grand designs and stick a hot tub on the balcony

You know what? I just don't know. It's something I've been mulling over for a little while now as I'm at that stage of life where it's possible for me to be very flexible about where I live.

I like where I am for various reasons, but often get the urge for a change of scenery. But to where? That's the question I'm struggling to answer.

Agreed, look forward to retiring to our place in Elterwater sooner rather than later.

As it happens, I did the Langdale Pikes only a couple of weeks ago.

From the summit of Harrison Stickle, the lump of Pike 'o Stickle, with Great Gable and the Scafell range in the distance.

Somewhere in west Wales I'd be tempted with. A mate live in Aberaeron and its lovely around there. Living in cardiff now I would be tempted with Usk though, near cardiff and bristol but its quite expensive.

To many choices to decide.

Quite like where we are now (edge of Yorkshire Dales) - have moors, dales, nice driving roads, and it's <1hr to a major city. Work from home so it's ideal...

...but it is equidistant from the coast, i.e. at least 90 minutes, more like 2 hours in either direction and I like the sea.

So maybe North Norfolk. Or Kent, south of Tunbridge Wells.

Maybe somewhere in Devon, near Dartmoor, Tavistock, Chagford etc

I've always loved Dartmoor, the wilds there and you also have a good proximity to the beaches and coastline around Devon.

Good for mtbing and surfing, plus the roads aren't too bad either!

Sutton-on-the-Forest - between York and the North Yorkshire Moors. Drove through a couple of weeks ago.

Or New Quay in Wales... lovely village on the coast.

It's lovely but I'd get fed up with all the tourists clogging it up and getting in the way.

Me and the wife have agreed that when we retire we'll move to the seaside somewhere near Tain. It's generally quiet but not too remote to make old age really difficult.

I almost did this, went from a big city to a tiny village in rural Leicestershire, love it here, don't even mind the 5 mile drive to get milk but if I could move anywhere it would probably be on a river or estuary somewhere in Devon or Cornwall

If only it was £1.3 million cheaper. smile
I suppose you just have to be more organised living in the sticks a bit.

I need to have the balls to move somewhere like this more reasonably priced smile
I found this property on the Rightmove Android app and wanted you to see it: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/s6p/63210271
