Please help VW Touareg, 2.5 Diesel auto, power loss

Please help I am having a few problems with my car mentioned in the title, I doing my journey and all of a sudden I have a massive loss of power no engine management lights appear on the dash
This has and can be dangerous in some circumstances and I need to get it sorted so any suggestions would be appreciated
When I lose power the engine barely accelerates even if I kick down on the auto box.
The problem does seem to resolve temporally if I pull over and restart the engine, I have had a scan done and no fault codes rellevent to the engine and performance show on the scan,
The problem occurs in all gear modes, drive, semi and sport and could happen at any time, it could be 5 min into the journey or 45 min
