Hoping someone can help me diagnose a noise in the drive train of my 987 Cayman. A bit of background 1st.

1) My car had a new clutch fitted by the supplying independent dealer in Jan 17. In Feb 18 the nearside drive shaft lost it's bolts due to not being torqued correctly after the clutch change and the inner side of the driveshaft fell out at relatively low speed. The car was stopped quickly but when stopped the driveshaft was semi jammed in one position, ripped out some wiring and but a small dent in the upright while flailing around.

2) After recovery I refitted the inner end of the drive shaft with new bolts fixed the wiring and added some new grease but I did not inspect cv joint closely. For last 1000 miles the car has been fine however I have just started to notice an odd noise under hard acceleration but this sounds more like an engine or exhaust noise... Hence I am trying to diagnose where the noise is coming from and I keep going back to the driveshaft. So far I have established as follows:

Driving normally or when free wheeling clutch in - noise not there

Rev engine clutch down, stationary or free wheeling - noise not there

Drive car hard through the rev range and noise is apparent.

Is it fair to assume that there was damage to the cv joint which now is starting to get noisy or fail when being put under load ? Is there another test prior to removal that I can reasonably establish it is the drive shaft ?

Thanks
