I`m having a week in devon starting saturday 7th may, staying near Tavistock, does anyone know of any tunnels, or other places that enhance the musical note of the v6, and any good roads worth a hoon?

Hi

I used to live in Devon & tend to go down every couple of weeks or so. There are no tunnels to speak of, but you will really enjoy the car. The roads are twisty and hilly so you'll be accellerating alot.

I'm going to drive down this Friday & will take the tiv, the 3 hours of motorway are worth the last hour on the twisty stuff.

However all local's (generally the flat cap metro drivers) seem to think it is illegal to ever exceed 30mph. They often flash me just because i've overtaken them when they were doing 25 in a 60 limit... this is mainly as they dont see you coming as the mirror is not in use & they are pretty deaf.

I had a great deal of fun with an old boy in a 735 BMW on my last trip, i was doing 80'ish on a back 'A' road and came up behind him, he was doing 25. I slowed, I waited then looked, then pulled out.... at which point he tried to bury his fut & pull away.

I easily overtook his lumbering automatic beemer and pulled in, at which point he backed off back to 25mph again !!!!!

Moral of the story, Devon drivers are in a world of their own & it turns very slowly.

As much as i'm moaning, i am currently planning a relocation to Devon this year.

Have fun
G

Oi! Not all of us are like that! Take your point though. There are a lot of crazy old duffers about with their heads in the clouds. Ignor 'em and enjoy the roads!!!

Is there a sizeable meet in the Devon area ? i hope to be down there by September, permanently, so i'll have to come along.

Quite possibly. We did rumble through Dartmouth on one occasion, then on to Slapton for some quality fish and chips!

I'm no longer a Tiv owner!
Post a similar comment on the 'South West' forum and I'm sure you'll get some takers though.
