You need to take off the panel on the front top of the wheel arch. Reach inside and you will find four studs with wing nuts on undo these and the pod should come away.
If not then forget it! Your pod will be bonded to the wing and in order to change the lens you have to write the pod off.

I changed mine very recently after a stone went through it.
Mine went exactly as E3D said above, except for one of the wing nuts was an absolute bastard to move and eventually resulted in the stud snapping off from the pod. Still, there was only 3 to do up
My biggest problem was getting a decent finish with the sealant
, so I've decided to have a speed 6 headlamp upgrade instead 
It should be a straightforward job

Anyone changed a lens on the 'mg' style lights??
I got a new lens today , I didnt think to buy a rubber gasket. The old one looks fine though. So I see how to get to it and how to remove the shroud etc.... How do you actually fit the lens? What do you need mastic/sealant stuff for ? And where can you get the matt black stuff from? The local halfords didnt have any.

It needs to be an adhesive as well as a sealant.
Sikaflex 221 is what you need. Designed for hot, wet, vibrating environments (ooerr) like a car.

Just a word of warning, if you clean the reflector part it will look nice and clean, BUT the other side will then look odd and you will have to do that too. Learn from my mistake as one job led to another.
Quite easy job though, but time consuming.

From looking on the Chim pages I think I just need a bit of sealant at the top of the pod to hold it in place and some around the lens when it is in the rubber gasket??? Does this sound right?

I put some on the inside, on the seal, and bonded the seal lens and pod. I then masked it off on the outside and put a nice bead around the rim of the lens.
Turned out ok, nice and water tight.
By the way I changed the glass.
Removed road wheel, screwdriver to remove 'hatch' in wheel arch. Torch to see the 4 wingnuts. Undo being careful not to drop wingnuts or washers.
Remove pod.
Put glass into the existing rubber seal (used a small screwdriver to help get the rubber round the light all the way round (pita).
Didnt need any sealant.
Replacing pod was a total pain. You gotta be careful of paint (phew I didnt scratch it).
After 15 mins of trying I realised that one bolt was slightly loose so I could get the other 3 in situ and then bend the last one to pop into the hole.
Jobs a good 'un!

Just the same as mine, right pain in the butt.
The entire pod it held on with sikaflex. You have to write the pod off getting it out.

Okay are you saying that to change a headlight lens I have to respray the front of the car
