While shopping in the store of the great unwashed (Iceland) for a 24 pack of Coke Zero (other sugar free drinks are available) I started to think about till etiquette. I will usually let someone go before me if they have a few items and I have many, as it's not really going to impact my day. So there I am, with my 1 pack of aforementioned soft drink, wondering if the council mother in front of me with her trolley full of death and 3 equally council kids will wave me through, so that I am not spending all of eternity waiting for her to slowly load the boxes of cholesterol onto the conveyor belt with not much help from her devil offspring. I got my answer very quickly.

It was a resounding no.

Eventually a second till was opened, and as I am not council (I probably am by someones definition) I allowed the old lady and her seemingly hen pecked son / husband (who had more items than me) go first, because you know, I'm nice (except when posting on PH). My point / question? Do you the people of PH believe in till etiquette and allow others with less to go first? Or, as a powerfully built goateed company director, do you pretend that no one is there and carry on buying those packs of frozen sausages that you're planning on hammering into your neighbours lawn because he stole 3" of land and you think this is the best to hammer(!) home your point?

I gave mine the day off, hence having to spend time with the unwashed..

I was too tired to dominate the till. I'll find out where they live though and throw cans of red bull at their door.

I wasn't buying sausages, but perhaps I should have been. I have no neighbourly disputes to ignore and to allow to escalate though.

There's a certain type of woman that can only be found in frozen food supermarkets that is likely a guilty pleasure for many men....

Or maybe just Dog Star.

Mrs Slow does the bulk of the shopping fortunately. I either use Amazon Prime or local Farm shops depending on goods required.

On the occasions I've tried them self service tills hate me, "bag the item" it always says, I already did you obnoxious piece of electronic shambolic pi55 taking till jockey...ffs honestly why is the red light on AGAIN! All I did was scan my bag of onions ffs...

Recently visited Aldi whilst in the UK, 1 till open, ha;f a dozen queueing.
Another till opened up and I hopped lines to join it, but let the bloke that was in front of me in the prior line go first as he was getting a refund on 1 item. He didn't say "thanks", the grumpy , so I'm with DWS from now on! punch

I'm a nice guy generally, will let people in front if I've got a trolley full.

Aldi / Lidl are bad as when they open another till it's every man for himself to get to the front of the new queue, all etiquette goes out of the window. Surely it should be the person already in the long queue that moves to the front of the queue for the new till? But no, pole position at the new till is fair game for all and sundry apparently.

My mrs does the shopping luckily or we get a delivery in, so I don't have to deal with this issue very often.

Will let one through if I have a massive trolley full, especially if am unloading, unless they have annoyed me or smell, which is a realistic possibility, I started a thread about some in the Aldi near work, christ on a bike, skanky looking dad and two late teens kids, the girl was quite pretty but stank like a rancid Polecat, call me "Miggs" but I swear I could smell her c......

Depends if I'm in a pleasant mood or not (rarely if I'm shopping). If yes then I will let 1 through, normally helps if it's an attractive female with a nice arse. If I'm in a st mood (most likey) then every one else can fk off and get herpes as far as I care, I'm nice like that wink

Official rule is the first person who hasnt loaded up items onto the belt is first at the new till.
