Hi, any suggestions for which fund to put £3k into within the HL platform, looking at medium risk, long term focus, accumulation ideally.

Vanguard 80% equity looks to provide stable performance, any others I should consider?
Thanks.

I presume you mean Lifestrategy80(%)?

Common comments are its quite UK heavy.

The Global All Cap is more evenly spread IIRC.

HL’s fees are probably more than Vanguard’s on an LS fund! It would be unusual to pay more for admin than for investment management, and goes somewhat against Vanguards low-cost mantra. If the LS fund is the right one for you, perhaps look at owning it directly.

Vanguard direct ISA is three times cheaper than through a S&S HL ISA - 0.15 vs 0.45%. Not sure about their other accounts.

But Vanguard ISA only has Vanguard funds available to invest in

Lindsell Train global equity has been very good for my ISA and Pension over the past few years.

I also have Fundsmith as mentioned by someone else, also a good performer

Lindsell Train GE does seem to be a PH perennial whenever this kind of thing is discussed and on the HL platform there is the added benefit of reduced fees. I have some in my ISA as well as Fidelity Technology which does well though is (relatively) expensive on the platform in terms of fees but there is zero crossover(AFAIK) between the two.

Those are my top two (that I have) though am open to ideas on this thread....

+2 Been steady for me also since investing at the end of the last tax year. Also have the majority of my investments in Vanguard FTSE Dev Wld ex UK - Returning ~1.5% less than L&G Global Technology has but I'd like to think it's more resilient.

I'm a novice and picked these funds after minor research, glad to see others are using the same fund in regards to L&G...

I bought into this at the start of April: https://markets.ft.com/data/funds/tearsheet/charts...

I'm obviously a financial genius and will post up photos of wads of cash and Rolexes in the fridge in due course.

Any recommendations/thoughts... looking to put in £400 p/mth for the next 2-3 years (to help cover (some of) the costs of an extension).

I'm using the Vanguard platform and currently my investments are split over:

FTSE UK All Share Index Unit Trust - Accumulation
Emerging Markets Stock Index Fund - Accumulation
LifeStrategy 80% Equity Fund - Accumulation
S&P 500 UCITS ETF (VUSA)

I have a direct debit putting an amount into each of these funds each month and i'm not planning on touch these for 10+ years

For the new monthly investment I don't mind a bit of risk but as I know I have a 3 year goal for this new investment i'm inclined to play a little safer than usual. Any thoughts or suggestions?

For such a short term you would probably be safer putting it in a savings account. The funds could be down when you want to build your extension and spoil your plans.

Don’t invest (much) in equities with a 3-year time horizon.
