Just got the FLASH10 code for Black Circles so thought I'd save £50 on 2x 265/40/21 fronts. The N0 Porsche approved are Latitude 3 but i'm a huge fan of PS4-S which are M0 Mercedes approved in my size. I don't usually pay much attention to the manufacturers bit but just wondered if there was anything in it? Anyone on a Macan with PS4-S?

Thanks

How old is your Macan and is it still in warranty ? If the answer if yes your tyres will invalidate any warranty claim that it is possible the tyres could impact.

Also if you currently have a warrenty which is about to expire you won'e be able to renew it unless it's 1005 OEM. That includes wiper blades, battery's...absolutely anything!

Yep, it is exactly that. Got to be totally factory standard and in tip-top condition to be accepted for Porsche warranty renewal. Other warranties may be different.

The flip side is very little argument about genuine warranty claims even if it costs silly money like an engine.

Even though the tyres are not covered by the warranty......go figure.

Same for brake discs and pads, too.

I think tyres particularly on a 4x4 if you're mixing brands on difference axles...can have a big difference. Can knacker the diffs from what I have read.

Does anyone know what the angle of these 'Latitude' tyres are - all I can find is marketing guff with pictures of eagles and mountains LOL

Have to say I am a bit mystified and annoyed as the car has 2yrs warranty left and I want my best rated tyres on it now. I don't need ANY nod to 4x4 off road heroics, the best road tyre i can buy is what I want!

Are you seriously saying that if it needs a wheel bearing or say a bush that they would refuse to do that as it 'didn't have the right tyres'?

My Aston is meant to have AMR rated 'approved' tyres but they are a very poor choice and fitting PS4-S transformed the car so am very keen not to get strong armed into a kickback N0 tyre...

I do not know how fitting non porsche tyres will impact the new car warranty.

When extending the warranty the inspection will check for non porsche approved parts and that will determine whether you can get a warranty. Under the extended warranty having non porsche parts fitted can result in a refused claim.

Why don't you phone the clueless Porsche GB customer services and ask? Obviously not giving any info that could identify you or your car.

No issue with the factory warranty in my experience (which I guess you still have). Extended warranty can be an issue but that seems to depend on the dealer in question.

Thanks guys. 2 yrs warranty remaining - quite flabbergasted by this really but will no doubt be a maverick as usual - the best boots are key!

[ArcamAlapha - my Arcam Alpha is 34 years old and is driving the TV 12" subwoofer daily by now - they don't build them like they used to!!!!]

Latitude Sport 3s are very good anyway. They last for ages, I have them on my Cayenne.

I am also a big fan of PS4-S having fitted them to my M3 and finding them notably better than the OE Conti. I collected my new Macan a few weeks ago and it comes on P Zeros which so far seem OK.

Last Friday I was at the PEC for my Macan experience. Their cars are fitted with Latitude 3 and the instructor said that they have a lot more grip than the PZero but the soft edges just wear away too quickly. Indeed after an hour I had destroyed the outside edge of both near side tyres. Photo shows the tyre at the coffee break!

I expect the weight and ability of the Macan will result in softer compound tyres getting a much harder time. They maybe need a harder P Zero or Latitude. Think I would stick with N rated.

‘N spec’ All Season tyres would be my choice - continental or Michelin.
Had them on Cayenne and Macan - excellent all year round performance, especially in winter. Nice handling, comfortable and quiet, and good, even, wear rates - c.24k mls + from a set.

I agree with this..I'm on my third Cayenne and IME the Michelin Latitude 3 N wear their outer edges very quickly wih the centres unaffected. This is despite having a geo check so i put it down to my admittedly exuberant driving style, heavy car and soft compound.
I've since switched to all-season N0 spec Pirelli Scorpion Verde which have performed faultlessly with no discernible wear or any dynamic weaknesses.
I will only fit all-season tyres on any Cayenne or Macan in the future..

I have a different view on the all season tyres. I have a Gts that was delivered with all seasons, I feel they are too much of a compromise. Not good in the winter and not that good at spirited driving in the summer either.

They also do not shift standing water very well.

Each to there own, but I can’t wait for them to wear out and Change for a proper summer tyre....

Disagree on soft shoulders on PS4-S having driven a 1900Kg car on track with them - no issues. Admittedly only about 15 laps of about 2 miles each but they were amazing and wore quite evenly and quite well.

PS4-S ordered - but there is more to this story eekeekeekeek will update later.

Nobody's talking about soft shoulders on PS4-S.

Latitude S3 was the quote.

This line implied otherwise >I expect the weight and ability of the Macan will result in softer compound tyres getting a much harder time. They maybe need a harder P Zero or Latitude. Think I would stick with N rated. <

PS4S aint N rated so no use if you score your bores and gp to make a claim wink Such nonsense!

I thought I was just planning ahead for around December, due diligence, bit of research...never had a '4x4 tyre'... And then I happened to park with a bit of lock on... This is my owned for 2 months OPC approved Macan:

They cant quite fit me in in a 7 day window for new tyres so have had to buy and sort myself...and thus avoid 3 points and a prosecution...or a blowout with the kids in the car.

Everything about my 1st ever Porsche buying experience has been so ste - even the oil lamp came on 800 miles in as they didnt even OPC check the b oil level... I could so go on... Thank God I love the car itself. And yes I'm putting PS4-S on - they can take a running jump for their N0 kickback.

>apologies for fumingmad<
