Strange question I know.

But is it common for people with Aspergers etc to seem much younger than they actually are? I've come across a few people recently who officially have Apergers and one or two who are at least borderline, and the majority could pass for a good 20% younger than their actual age. Coincidence?

Yes,, typically they do act younger than they are and it shows with certain normal everyday things in life they/we have to deal with. Then on occasions they can come across very intelligent and mature, it depends whatever floats their boat really, very random individuals in their later years..

I disagree. My youngest is on the Autistic Spectrum and has Aspergers.

He is almost 13 years old and has always been assumed to be older than he is. Ok, given he is tall for his age as the rest of the kids in his school years have only come to his shoulder height so that can fool people to thinking he is older but he is very intelligent and can come over easily as a 16 year old. Its only when things go wrong and he has a meltdown that his age and that below him comes out.

I think the different is those that are high functioning, ie have Asperger's will come over as their age/older but those on the lower end of the scale will appear younger and less mature than their years.
