2015 F10 M5 Drivetrain malfunction

Hi Guys,
So my first MOT and break fluid service was due, as I travel a lot bmw had my car for about 3 weeks in total.
MOT initially failed on rear tyres and suspension issue.. I asked them to change the tyres no problem suspension they covered the cost as it just finished warranty. They also put in a new battery as it was showing issues.
So three weeks later I went to collect my car. As I sat in the car the first thing I noticed was the fuel was below the empty line and there were was no range in the distance before refueling. Now I never ever let it go that low. When it says 30miles range I fill it up VPower from day one. I found that odd because when I dropped it to them it well over a 1/4 tank of fuel. I thought let me go and put some fuel in as there is a petrol station less than 60seconds from the dealership. Not shell but esso as I knew it would never get me to shell so I thought ok put in supreme esso £20 that will get me to shell. Anyway literally as I pulled out of the service centre car park to get to this Esso station my drive train malfunction sign came on and the engine management light came on car came in to limp. Obviously I was shocked as I’ve never seen this before. So I proceeded to esso as I would have had to go past it in order to get back to the service centre. So got back to the service centre first thing that came to my mind was that someone has been ragging my car around whilst it’s been here. So knew obviously that I just had new tyres put on by bmw themseveles and they should have still had the factory stripes on them. So I checked and no stripes were present... they looked liked that been driven on and driven hard. Bare in mind my car went in to limp as soon as I pulled out. So I know it wasn’t me.
Anyway they got it in the workshop and said it’s misfiring and they need to investigate further. My question to them was 1: how many miles has it been drivin since I dropped it and collected it. They said 6 miles.. when checking the coil on the suspension they changed (I find 6 miles excessive). 2 how can they explain the fuel being below empty when I never let my car go beyond 30miles range if they only 6 miles. 3 if they put on brand new tyres only did 6 miles why do they not have the factory stripes on them stil unless someone was driving the car aggressively or launch controlling it etc. I’m waiting for them to get back to me today. Hopefully they will cover the cost to get whatever issue it is sorted but I’m really pissed off this has happened in the first place. They said to me yesterday we have checked and this error has never come up on your car before. I suspect someone has been ragging my car around while they have had it for 3 weeks. They said it been only driven 6 miles from the key reading when I dropped it to when I came to collect it. This doesn’t justify the fuel level as to what it was when I left it with them.

Not sytner newport by any chance is it. Similar thing happened to me last year, car dropped off with half a tank of fuel and I got it back with the fuel warning showing. Not just at the limit but no range showing and I'd never let it get that low especially with the dodgy n53 injectors. Managed to get to a fuel station luckily. It also had acquired a buckled rear wheel. They paid for a full tank after I kicked up a fuss but I gave up on the wheel and replaced it myself in the end.
ETA I'd be piss ed at the new rear tyres being ragged, I'd argue that you've paid for new tyres so where are the stripes? Did they fit second hand tyres? Or did they forget to fit new ones...

No they were supposed to be brand new tyres. Apparently they say the key reading is only showing 6 miles from drop off time and date to the time I went to get it yesterday. Want to know if they can tamper these figures or not... also the 6 miles would defiantly not be enough to get rid of all the stripes on the tyres. No but it was another Sytner dealership.
If it’s any reassurance I’ve just had quite a lot (as in £8k worth) of work mostly covered by BMW as the car was 3 months out of warranty and no issues were highlighted during TWO separate end of warranty inspections carried out by two unrelated dealers. This included all 8 injectors. If the car has been maintained by dealers you should be able to get any major work covered even if it’s just outside warranty.

THIS. It doesn't last forever, but I've found BMW's goodwill stretches pretty far. I don’t think you have anything wrong with the car.
Some years ago I dropped my F10 M5 off at a local reputable Bodyshop and like yours it came out empty of fuel.
As I tried slowly to make it to the filling station the car stopped.....it had ran out of fuel
Anyway, long story short I got a can of petrol and stuck a gallon in to get me to the next station. The car farted and splattered and eventually started but with the same drivetrain fault as yours. I made it to the station, filled up to the brim as normal (never did with VPower I must add
) and after about 10 minutes driving it cleared itself and went back to normal, the warning never to be seen again.
Obviously can’t comment on the tyres but I would suggest you’re being a bit sensitive and I doubt very much if your car has been abused.

Yes your right. They said it was down to fuel. Car back to normal today. An collected it no issues. In regards to the Tyres. They said the ‘Tyre technician’ told them that some new Tyres don’t come with stripes. Which is bs as I’ve never had new Tyres without them on any of my cars. Anyway I couldn’t be bothered to argue with them just glad to get my car back in good working condition.
