Totally captivated, I enjoyed every minute of it (90 in all) and left grinning like a naughty school boy

I learnt the meaning of staves, bars, the trebble and base clefs, octaves, tones and semitones, and with luck I'll remember the chromatic scale with both hands up through a few octaves and back again as well as this other scale

We also did the a-g keys, sharps, flats, and their evil double sharp and flat accomplices. Easier than I thought, takes a bit of thinking though.

Enough of my drivel, but happy day, well chuffed I started! With luck I'll sound better than a V8 by the end of the year

Watch Groundhog Day - where eventually he learns boogie-woogie to impress the woman he fancies

I got to Grade 2 and quit; now of course I wish I hadn't. Maybe one day I'll get a keyboard and try to teach myself something...

Nice one.
I remember my first theory lesson, asa an adult, the tutor kept talking about "Cycle of Fifths, Cycle of Fifths". Had absolutely no idea what he was on about.
It all became so very clear, and helped no end.

Enjoy getting really good really quickly.

Congratulations and the best of luck. It could be the best thing you ever did.

Cheers Stu If they'd had a polished yellow piano, Id have bought that instead Im sure it'll turn out to be the second best thing I ever did

Delivery is tomorrow afternoon, I cant wait

Oh, re: teachers, the one I liked more on the phone Im seeing friday. Todays teacher was also excellent, really like what/how the guy works, get on famously with both of them (whittled down from a long list) so once Ive got the choosing a teacher out of the way, Im sorted.

If I like both, would you recommend seeing both for a month, 2 months, 3 months... before making a decision? Id like to make the right choice, bearing in mind I'll be learning from them (in theory) for perhaps close to another 10 years

Can't imagine what you mean.

Let me guess...

You're a wind instrument that bursts into tune when sharply prodded with a digit or two .....?
