UK Stag do location. Nottingham good?
Discussion
Stag group of about 25 looking some daytime activities (shooting, quad bikes etc) and the usual evening stuff in the UK.
Nottingham seems to fit the bill but I haven't been there since I worked up there 5 years ago.
Would it still be a good venue for a stag do?
Found just about all the info I need to book it, just want opinions about its worthiness as a stag venue.
If you live in Nottingham I promise we won't break anything!

Admittedly we do have a bad reputation for crime in this city but having lived in Leeds and London I don't feel any less safe than in those places!
I think that it is more a case of whether or not your face fits. I used to work with a guy who, because he has a skinhead and looks like a thug (he was one of the nicest men I have ever met), always gets picked on. I am sure that you will be perfectly fine. It is a great, central location, served well by the road and rail network.
I hope that you all have a wonderful time. Incidentally I have seen two stags in Nottingham who have been stripped naked by their 'friends' and that was during the day
One was outside Marks and Spencer's.Baby take off your shoes.... real slow
Baby Take off your coat.... ah, take off your coat
Baby Take off your dress... yes, yes, yes
You can leave your hat on...

You can leave your hat on!
Sorry, I feel a bit like a blindfolded Julian Clary.
I just don't know what came over me....

Nottingham's OK compared to Manchester in the late 80's and 90's when Salford, Cheetham Hill and Moss Side gangs used to battle it out for control of the clubs and bars on their 'turf'. The amount of serious sh!t that used to go off was crazy. A night out in Notts has never come close to this, thank f**k. Still good to keep your wits about you, but that's not a bad thing anywhere these days.

If you are lucky we will have a whip round and see if we can get you one.
Back to topic - My mate had his stag do there, and was a fun blast on quad bikes, Honda Pilots and Chuckle Buggies, with the evening being dinner in Hooters and a dodgy club, but well worth the visit.
Been on two stag dos in Nottingham, and the whole place is set up for it. If you look in the back of the lad's mags, a lot of the stag organising companies are based there.
Activity-wise don't go to the karting place 15 miles south of Nottingham (I won't name and shame) as they are complete
and on a weekend are just set up for chucking as many stag/hen parties through their doors as possible, with minimum regard for the enjoyment of their punters
Have also been paintballing up in Sherwood Forest which was excellent. There's quite a few Honda Pilot type places as well.
Nightlife in Nottingham is the best bit about going there on a stag. Pretty much every bar and club realises that a lot of their trade at the weekend comes from these events, so are very friendly to them. Not something you'd get (nowadays) if you went to Dublin for instance. We never had a problem getting into anywhere as a group of >20 chaps, with the stag dressed up as Robin Hood.
Have fun!

I went on a stag do in Nottingham and it was quite good. The quad biking on the Sat day was great fun and with hindsight we should have spent a lot longer doing this (as it was quite short) rather than the paintball afterwards which seemed to go on forever (and also there's nothing worse than running around trying not to take a painful shot to the stomach whilst with a horrendous hangover). Anyway, both of these activities were about 20 minutes outside of Notts centre. The evening was spent in the usual array of pubs and clubs where the stag / hen do's are well catered for.

Funnily enough, I'm off to Edinburgh on a stag do Friday week!
Forgot to mention, we found a bar called Dogma in the lace market in Nottingham which I'd highly recommend.
dogma used to be good, then it started filling up with over 30's and the standard of music went a bit downhill...try I bar in hockley or market bar, both funky, both will accept stag parties
I work in Nottingham during the week & it's one of the better cities I have worked in - lots of bars, places to eat, friendly(ish) locals.
When I have ventured out in the weekends it (imo) turns into stag hell with groups of lashed stags & hens acting like arses (only to be expected really
) and there being a fair bit more hassle than in a number of other cities. Ruins the character of the place in my book, although it seems that a group of guys or girls are less likely to get turned away from places

this is true, but if you know where to go there are some very agreeable bars & restaurants
although no night is complete without a trip to the cookie club
