Hi All

Recently my 7-ish year old Pioneer Blu ray player/surround sound has developed a fault with this part - the top cover of the disc assembly, the spindle on this has broken meaning that discs when loaded do not stay aligned and won't play.

https://www.partmaster.co.uk/insulating-cover/prod...

However, having put in an order a couple of weeks ago via the above link, they've subsequently updated their site and emailed me to confirm they no longer stock this part.

It was only a £30 part to replace, and would be a 5 min repair job, but I don't want to buy a whole new system as the surround sound element still works fine, and I'd like to keep everything with as few different remotes and boxes as possible.

So - can anyone on here help me out? Perhaps the above part is used on other Pioneer products - I also feel it might be be an LG part - however Partmaster and BuySpares are both saying it is discontinued as a separate item.

I’d just buy a used Pioneer BR player of similar age and model line up - it’s an extra box but there’s a fair chance your current remote will operate the added BR player, they’ll match in size and finish and you’d probably source one for less than the cost of the spare you’re struggling to track down.

Or track down a used model indentical to the one having issues, get one in poor but working condition and swap parts.

Not a bad idea, which leads me to ask

Having taken the cover off the current box, its a series of modules, I wonder if the internals for a different Pioneer would be the same that I could swap, if I can't find the exact same one?

Almost guaranteed there will be no bespoke mechanical parts in the unit barring the casework perhaps but the challenge would be finding matching parts from a compatible BR player for example.

If you have the time and inclination then fine. Personally I’d just add a separate player or move onto a newer/more reliable unit.

Good luck with it.
