Seems to come up from time to time.

I see them coming and going at all prices still. Have they hit the sweet spot that rare 911s seem to hit sometimes? Will they ever?

Mine's still sublime after all these years and testing the market against some near-new GT3 RS / 458 / Scud, I'm getting bids very much short of advertised prices. And definitely nowhere near where I'd be even a little bit tempted to sell it.

Dealers trying to wring out tens of thousands in profit or are these sales really nowhere near advertised?

With a car like a GT2 I think the only way to get anything close to a market price is SoR. You never know how much dealers sell for below advertised pricing but in can sometimes be quite a bit on a rare car on a GT2.

Not a great ime to be looking to sell IMHO....market is soft and dealers are already thinking about stock levels for autumn and the slow winter months.

You should speak to Tom at 911v. He’ll give you a fair price for a good car.

They agreed to buy a 36000 mile 993 from my one of my neighbours
He’s still waiting for them to collect it

Loved my gt2, but also nearly died in it - not a general public car imo (for drivers as opposed to investors that is) - therefore probably less demand / more difficult to shift

Hi MDL111

That sounds a more interesting story than values, go on spill the beans.

Cheers

I had a pic, but lost it unfortunately. My GT2 looked like a crushed coke can, even the roll cage broke.... and I ate some windshield - tough cars those, but not to be underestimated

The long stay in the hospital and the multiple head operations attest to that. Let’s just say landing on your roof on a barrier at very high speed does not do any good for anybody

Of course that is less relevant if you never exceed 70 mph .... smile

Wow, more a case of nearly spilling the brains not beans.

I am glad you’re around to tell the story.

Crikey! Glad you made it.

They definitely bite and I've had mine for 35k miles or so, you still need to keep your wits about you but I reckon they're a proper hoot, maybe I don't drive it so hard. Still find it a great beast today.

Interesting about the values thanks, that chimes with what I'm getting. This year I got it prepped for SoR at Porsche Cambridge and it's never looked so good, a few little paint issues (wing mirrors, a little scrcatch on the door and some blistering from a stonechip ahead of rear wheel), wheels refurbed though they weren't damaged just too grubby to clean properly.

Really I think just the calipers could do with a repaint if I want something I can't see any age to at all.

But reckon it's probably worth more to me still than the cash in the bank so I'll suffer on for a few more years smile

Considering a few short weeks ago, dealers were offering 80k or so for my car, these prices have jumped massively.

Where on earth is the 996GT2 market right now? Surely these prices aren't being paid? Be interested in hearing what the octane car they apparently sold made.

Any recent GT2 sellers/buyers able to report prices paid?

Tom at 911v recently sold a low miles stunning clubsport for £130k. don't want to sound like a broken record - you should really speak to him.

If you don't want to sell at £80k which sounds right in the trade as the spread on these is massive and big bills if there is a warranty claim he'll SOR for you and take a smaller cut wink

Sounds exactly right.

Regarding PH prices wherever they are in absolute terms, I just notice they're relatively 20% more than a few weeks ago.

I'm quite motivated, perhaps I'll take a drive over to 911v. For ever since I've been looking at 911s these chaps seem to come over as straight and dependable.

Maybe I could try HWM too

There's some pretty experienced drivers that have binned these so you're in good company. I was always a bit scared of having 500 bhp with no t/c - complete pussy!

I think the geo was to blame with some of these early setups. Understeer turning into snap oversteer once you find grip at the front.

Mine became I guess just a bit unstable on bumps and acceleration. Well and braking too I guess. I just got the feeling I was always busy behind the wheel. Then Chris at Center Gravity stripped everything, posted off the dampers and rebuilt replacing anything that was worn.

After that it's much better. I think the Geo was set to something somehow a bit more direct from the front (forgive me, I'm not too bad as a bike racer but not much of a car racer) and now even if it gets a bit lairy it still seems relatively manageable.

yes - although I believe my 997 had TC. Anyway cold Cup 1 tyres, turbos and probably hitting a little cold water with one tyre under acceleration did not help matters.

As much as I love the idea of GT2s, I doubt I will ever buy another one.
