Been getting itchy feet and starting to think i want something that isent necessarily the fastest car on the road but something that feels/sounds mental.

Am i best going for a low down car with a loud exhaust and modest power output (mx5?) to get this sort of feeling do you think? Maybe with the interior stripped out as much as possible?

I currently have a hot hatch and its pretty quick and corners well but its not very exciting and as i commute far i could put up with something a bit less forgiving.

If you don’t need a driver, don’t employ one. Drive yourself.

So you commute a fair old distance, and want something less refined?

I'm in the same boat currently.
I had an M135i which whilst fast and refined, wasn't fun. (It was also fked, but that's neither here nor there)
It went back and I'm not on the hunt for a weekend car, as I don't use one at all during the week. The Mrs has the sensible car, so a impractical fast, noisy, fun car is what I want next.

If you're commuting distance though, split it up, and get 2 cars where they do their intended roles very well.

You'll quickly grow bored of using an Elise to commute in every day.

You could always try something similar to your existing car but a bit rawer, like a Megane 275.
Driving stripped out cars on the road for any period of time is fking intolerable.

Here you go this ticks all the boxes:

Megane R26.R

Or a bit leftfield would be the 3.2 Alfa Brera Prodrive:

Decent chassis nice exhaust note but may be a bit to refined.

Kit cars often fit these requirements nicely. Something like a Grinnall Scorpion will feel far more entertaining to drive than your current car.
