E series 35d vs F series 35d
Discussion
Hi guys,
For people having had both or having experienced both I would like you to answer a few questions. I currently have a Facelift 535D E60 remapped and fancy upgrading to the newer F series, maybe the 535D or the 335D.
Now what I wanna know is, is there major differences between the old and new series in terms of performance? I could test drive them but majority of the ones i've seen are just standard 35d without remaps for sale, once remapped are they similar in terms of performance? I knwo that the newer ones are slightly better on fuel but other than that is it worth the extra £?
Thanks,

The engines are quite different. The E60 has the M57 engine, the F10 has the N57 engine. N57 engine has 302hp stock, M57 one has 285hp stock. Same turbochargers I believe on both engines, but the N57 block is lighter and a bit more quieter. M57 engine is a bit more reliable as well. Both engines respond really well to remaps, no issue there, but the N57 engine is automatically better on fuel because it has the 8-speed auto which makes it achieve 35-40mpg. They're both fine for remapping, I would monitor the gearbox as I am not sure about the limits of the 8 speed ZF 8HP gearbox.
335xd is awd too.
For my needs I couldn’t imagine how useful a tuned rwd diesel with 350bhp+ would be, tied into an auto or manual, with turbo lag.
The 335xd is certainly a bit clinical but it feels way beyond its 300bhp day to day because of short fast gears and lots of traction.
Imo you have to test drive one properly.
It’s not really my bag as a ‘driving’ car but at everything else it’s very very good.
