Hi! I've owned and restored a Griff 500 here in Sweden for a few years now, I've decided it's time to switch to a Tuscan. Most TVR models are extremely rare in this country since they were never sold here, so I will import a car from the UK. Perhaps I need to hurry, don't know what will happen after the final Brexit date that is said to be in March 2019. To import a car from outside the EU is normally not recommended for the faint-hearted...

Well, my main question is actually if you think there are any technical disadvantages in choosing a factory Red Rose car. I know that the Red Rose option included 20 more hp among some chassis upgrades. However, I've not managed to find what TVR actually did to increase the power. Different camshaft, different software, increased compression ratio, more? And, most importantly, what is the downside when it comes to drivability? If any? Rough low rev behaviour, shunting etc?

Looking forward to welcoming another Speed Six to my country, think we have around 10-15 here at the moment.

Thanks,
Stefan

Increased compression ratio (11.x to 12.2:1) , slightly different cam timing setting on either intake or exhaust I believe (with the same cams), mapping and bigger exhaust are the things that spring to mind.

OK, thanks. So the eventual downsides then would be the usual that can come with higher compression, I suppose.

Hi Stefan,
Am also about to enter the path of exporting my Tuscan over to Stockholm from the UK.
How complicated (expensive) do you think it will be.

Hi! So you're selling your Tuscan over here? And not to me ...? Makes me curious, there are not many Tuscan drivers around here. Less than ten in the country, I believe.

Well, to you as a seller it should not cost any extra compared to selling within the UK, as far as I understand. It's the buyer who has to pay extra for approval, registration, import fees etc. I'm not an expert but I think there will be some extended paperwork for you since you have to send in a copy of the Swedish registration approval to your authority that handles vehicle registrations (don't know what it's called in the UK), to be able to unregister the car in your country.

So, there's basically a question of trusting the new owner, simply see to that he sends you this copy within reasonable time. At least this is the way it works the other way around; if we in Sweden sell a car abroad.
