Main beam & Fogs

Having just changed my rear lights to the later spec units thanks to Greg at Newlun. I've noticed that the fog lights don't work with the headllights on main beam. Sure enough this turns out to be another TVR-ism, but does anyone know why and if/how this could be changed?

Sounds like a bad earth to me, where mind you is another question. Assuming that the old tails lights worked before the conversion check that all the connections to the new lights. I am not sure where the rear lights get their earth from but that would be a good place to start.

My fog light doesn't work with headlamps on main beam so it may not be a fault?

Any car I've driven in the last 10 years has always dropped the rear fog with main beam on. Reasoning that if it's clear enough for main beams, you don't need your rear fog!

I hate people who leave their fg rear fogs on.... ahh, that's better (No.1 pet hate!)

Could'nt agree more, hate fog lamps... Should be a timer switch on them by lAW IMO.

TBH I would prefer 2 Reversing lights, only time I have ever used fog light is as an aid when reversing anyway.

Its standard and its ment to be like that! The thinking is if its not foggy enough for you to have main beam on then its not foggy enough for you to have fog lights on. It also saves battery life, main beam and fogs and all the other electrics you will probably have on at the same time draws alot of current.

Just as I thought, this is not a fault but standard. I doesn't bother me, I just was concerned that maybe there was a fault. It's strange that my 2 other cars allow both main beam and rear fogs on at the same time yet my mates Citroen has the same setup as the Chimaera. I can't remember the last time I actually used the fog lights despite driving the car almost every day but you know what it's like.. new lights and you want to see how good it looks all guns blazing!
