Got a puncture in front nearside (255/35 ZR18) on the way to Hathersage yesterday. No worries I thought - I've got a bottle of tyre weld with me. Made sure the tyre was fully deflated, gave the can a good shake, attached it to valve - and nothing !.
Can was supposed to fully discharge in 1.5 minutes.
10 mins later the can is still feebly trying to discharge into the tyre.
Took the can off and it must have been still 3/4 full !!. Well I had had it in my boot for a while so I trundled off to the local petrol station where I purchased another can tyre weld.
Same problem. !!
Phone call to the AA ( who incidently were a bit "unhelpful & evasive" in that they seemed unwilling to accept I now needed a low loader to get home ) resulted in a possible 1.5 hrs wait for help.
Fortunately they phoned a local garage in Grindleford who were most helpfull and got me home on theback of their low loader.
Has anyone here tried tyre weld in anger and got it to work - or is it just crap - or can't cope with the tyre size, and a puncture means a trip home on a low loader?

Phil,
I have used it many times before on cars and on both Motorcycles on and off road...(yep did get it to work in a tubed tyre). The last car I used it on was a Golf GTI (some years back now tho)and when I took the tyre in to be fixed the ATS guy refused, saying they could not guarantee the repair once tyre weld had been used. I have 2 cans in the back of my Tuscan, but to be honest I would use the AA first off. Thats pretty 5hitty response they gave you there....whats your cover level ?

I've got the all singing dancing cover. thinking of going to Green flag after this.
I didn't jack the car up - don't usually carry a jack around with me - maybe it's another one of those things you must also carry around with you :-)
When I purchased the car was given a fifth 18" spider - but its badly scuffed. Seriously thinking of getting a tyre on this, having a cover made for it and some straps and strapping it into the boot somehow as a spare !!!
Trouble with the tyreweld is that you only get to try it an emergency :-(

Did you jack the car up first to take the weight off
before filling with moose?
You definitely should not need to jack the car up....
ironically last night driving back to the hotel from work I saw a guy on the road side using the stuff on a land cruiser. He was no longer there when we went back the other way 10 minutes later.... Check to see if an expirey date is evident anywhere on the can..... I would but my motors at home in bed....
2SB good job you had the can in a plaggy bag....a real mess that would have made of your lined boot.
I had the exact same problem as you, can still 2/3 full after 10 mins. Walked to Halfords and bought a new one and it worked first time! so I now carry three of the things just incase. Incidently, when I had the tyre repaired the goo ended up all over the rim, tyre fitter wasnt impressed as it went all over his tyre remover too! need to try some thiners to get it off.
