Agree.
I see DR as good, not great, but I’m not sure I see a Renault team battling for a title anytime soon.
I also think it will be interesting seeing how Red Bull get along with Honda as they get so annoyed at the Renault units failing or being under powered.
I also don’t see Red Bull being in a stronger position next year compared to where they are currently. If not worse.
Maybe DR predicts this also and feels a punt at Renault worth a go.
..... or Renault has just delivered their last big F@!k You to mr Horner.

The Renault are the best of the rest, and with a Honda engine, RB might be joining the midfield battle. There are no vacancies in the top two teams (at the moment) and in any case, the only reason he'd go to Ferrari as clear #2 would be for the money.
It seems to me to be a sensible move for him, and for Renault. I hope he stung them for a fair bit.
From a selfish point of view, if Renault is in the midfield next season, and RB drop a bit, then it could be a really fun season.

RB clearly see MV as their way forward yet DR outperforms him on the whole. Knowing that it seems that out is the better option and keep your fingers crossed the new package comes good and/or a seat at a better place comes very soon.Not where you want to be as your approach your thirties in F1.

I don't think anybody has a contract that goes beyond 2020 at the moment. All the teams are tied into their current commercial deals until the end of 2020, and the current rules run until the end of 2020.2021 and beyond is a big unknown for the entire sport at the moment.

I think this is the key to it all. He's alluded to it in the past and RB haven't exactly been coy about how much they value MV. If by some miracle RB are at the sharp end next year I think Daniel would draw the short straw even if he is outperforming Max early on in the season.Better to be in a team where he has a fair shot at it should they find themselves up near the front.

DR has better race craft for sure but MV has better pace - If MV sorts out his crashing then DR could end up looking a bit silly. So Renault is a pretty sensible move.Plus as said the current top 3 teams already have no.1 drivers.

This could be a really great move for Danny Ric. The Renault team is able to integrate their chassis and power unit better as they design both and they have the resources behind it that are necessary to challenge at the front.
Danny's in a position to dictate certain privileges in his contract, such as being a clear number 1 and I'm guessing he'll be on quite a bit of money too.
If things don't work out for him, his contract runs out at the end of next year, which would be handy if XMDA decides to go full time with his rap career.

It's a two year deal so it's the end of the year after not next year. I think people are underestimating Renault a bit. I've said it before and say it again: its a team with a strong backbone that's had its ups and downs financial/ownership wise; guys like Nick Chester, Bob Bell (leaving/stepping back), Alan Permane is back after a short stint at Williams; financial investment at Enstone could make them WDC challengers again.
BBC article mentions Max as the third highest paid driver. I wouldn't be too surprised if Ricc probably asked for more - I know I would with the race results card not to mention McLaren one of the teams open to Ricc.
Ricc vs. Hulk is going to be a mouth watering prospect.
