New to the forum so thought I'd start a thread on a few of my cars. Bit of a story to this.
So what happens when your in work and customer can't justify spending the money to powder coat a set of wheels cos the car has 236000 miles on it? You throw him a rediculous offer and take the car home? And there it has sat for the passed 6 months since. Plans are to strip it and see what we are working with.......
But hold on what happens when your browsing FB and stumble upon a silver one for £400? No mot and 165K on it? Went to Ellon outside Aberdeen to get this one, turned up expecting it to be a shed same as the yellow beast, no it had had a new clutch and flywheel was very presentable and didn't need much work wise infact I chucked it in for an mot on the way home a brake pipe 2 springs and a ball joint later it had a years ticket.
A few pics of the two beasts, plans are to use the yellow one as a donor, has had alot of work and some tasty mods, silver one I use daily and love although does need a few bits like regulator in passenger window, had to put new discs and pads in along with rear bushed, I've a feeling it needs a maf or n75 valve as boost comes and goes and the SAI needs removed as has snapped off the bracket.

I have a real 'thing' for these cars - had an estate years back before switching to company car drearyness. Bought at 40k, ran to 180k. My Son has now had two, a black hatch that went to 210k and was replaced by the yellow hatch he has now at approx 80k. All three were/are remapped
Aside from endless tracing of vacuum leaks, carrying spare coil packs and dipstick tubes made of chocolate, my estate did all i needed it to - had a half sensible turn of pace, swallowed the kit that I used to put in it, would return 40-45mpg when driven sensibly, and it used to tow the caravan too. I miss my VRS!
following with interest! Have fun!

I have had an estate for a few months now, they are great but do seem prone to non-critical niggles.
There is a mountain of advice online though! Clean the throttle body if you haven't, that made a huge difference to smoothness for me.
Oh and watch out for door locks and yes, windows, I would take all the door cards off and lube the lot.

Believe me I've been there these are Octavia number 5 and 6, I'm currently in the process of doing window wiper mech and motor on the front as it gave up the other day on the silver one, downpipe which I'm yet to remove a snapped stud, they love the module in the driver's door for locking and windows etc, luckily this one is bone dry along with the yellow one, I managed to get a good one and a donor for sub £500There is a mountain of advice online though! So Sunday was eventful, changed n75 valve and MAF to solve boost on and off issues, new front brake discs and pads, rear wishbone bushes and ball joints, window wiper mech and window regulator, she's like brand new again, lucky I refurb wheels for a living as they are next in the list

What are the N75/MAF symptoms? Easy job? Glad you're enjoying it.

Boost tailing off and coming back repeatedly under hard acceleration is n75 issues, replaced with a J item and boosts perfect now, just picked up a super sprint exhaust so it's off to be modified
