Porsche break squeal by design...
Discussion
My Boxster S started to develop break squeal... bought it Nov-2017 and dealership told me it had at least “half break pads” left (whatever that means). At the last check up in Apr at the dealership, I was told break pads were still good. 4888miles on, my breaks started to squeal. As it turns out, a quick google search brought up this nice Porsche video justifying why these fine breaks squeal*. Watching the video and without wishing to be overly critical, it looks like BS to me. What do you guys think about it? I’m tracking the car next Saturday, should I have the breaks checked again beforehand?
As always, thank you !

Disc brakes have a natural LOVE to squeal. Brake engineers put a lot of work into formulating pad materials and designing an entire braking which suppress this as far as possible. Disc material can have an involvement at as well.
If brake squeal arises when using OEM brakes it's very often down to the way the vehicle is used. Surfaces can be excessively polished (perhaps always driven in town and with very light braking) or be affected by the deposition of pad material onto the discs (even from a single heavy braking event which overheats the roadgoing discs/pads). In many cases brake squeal can be cured by taking the car for good drive in which the brakes are used in a different fashion.
