Here's something a bit different. My own car was in need of repairs so I was allowed to borrow one from work. I parked in a car park managed by Excel. I paid the correct fee - but put in my own cars registration number instead of the work car. I didn't realise until I got back to the car.

Next day I told my boss that a PCN would probably arrive and that I would deal with it. It duly arrived and I went online to appeal the circumstances and, in addition, stated that I was the driver and gave my home address.

A month went by and an e-mail arrived at my works e-mail address giving the usual guff but saying pay up or else.

However, I've never received anything at my home address. What is likely to happen next?

If it is Excel, they will bluff and bluster and try to claim it's valid at every opportunity to cover their tracks.

If you are in Scotland, then they have limited options for enforcing this, but your main point of argument should be that the IAS Lead Adjudicator in his 2016/2017 report ( https://www.theias.org/uploads/8GUoFjhhcBm2bvlLy6e... )

stated that "The issue referred to above was resolved by providing guidance to all adjudicators, encouraging them to find in favour of the motorist in appropriate cases where the mistake is so trivial that it would be unfair to uphold a parking charge. This has led to a significant reduction in this type of case reaching adjudication."

It shouldn't be a difficult case to argue, but you may have to go through the IAS hoops to avoid facing the great legal minds at BW Legal.
