Hello
I wish upgrade my alloys to 16", but need to know what type of alloys would fit my car.
I have a VW Polo 1.2 64 BHP 2006.
I have looked on the internet, and i know 5x100 alloys will fit my car, but apparently there is more to it?
Can someone advise which alloys would fit my car that is 16"?
Much appreciated.

You need to know centre bore size (57.1mm I believe - most aftermarket wheels will come with quite a large bore that you use spigot rings to reduce.
Correct offset, the distance from the centre line of the wheel and the plane of the mounting face, ET number is this. ET40-ET45 probably a good place to start. It's not just about physically fitting on, it affects the relationship of the suspension geometry with the contact patch.
Width to suit what fits and intended tyre size. They did factory cars with 6.5" wide 16" wheels running on 205/40 tyres, so that'll probably work.

So what can i research in order to find these type of alloys? I am after keywords as i am scanning eBay, and gumtree.
Did you even read the reply from InitialDave?Offset (shown as ETxx)
Centre bore size (in mm)
Width
Wheel diameter (obviously)
PCD (bolt pattern / spacing)
Of course as a starting point you need to know the centre bore size and offset of your car.
As a starting point, you could go to one of the specialist wheel sites and find suitable wheels for your car, and then get the various dimensions from those.
EDIT: Forgot to add PCD as well.

Okay - would these fit the car?

The guy gave me these details:
16x6 1/2 JJ
55
Subaru B66
Tyre size is
205/50/16

Subaru centre bore looks to be 1mm too small, and the offset is moving the wheel too much to the centre on the car.
Try something in the VW/Audi/Seat family from a similar time period, or compare with websites like this:

Be careful though, such lists aren't always 100% reliable. Measure for yourself before buying if you can.

Also look at the tyre pressure rating plate on the car as this will tell you the wheel/tyre sizes that fit the car.
You also need to look for wheels that are spec'd to fit your car, just picking any old wheel you can find on gumtree is going to end badly.
If in doubt talk to a wheel specialist.
