Mate of mine is under the spell of a business coach who I cant see any redeeming qualities in whatsoever, his history is patchy with minimal real achievements.

I saw the invoice (£1200 a day no vat) and freaked out, I suspect the account to pay to is a personal one and I am asking if its possible to tell Santander - it starts 0926 if that helps. He has a serviced office type thing and has tales to impress Trump but I smell bull and dont want my mate pissing cash away on it.

Cheers

What difference would they make to your friend? I have lots of self-employed clients who use personal bank accounts.

Also, £1200 a day........wow.

My pal thinks he needs a coach / mentor and in time honoured fashion wont listen to people close to him (me) but puts everything into a stranger who says stuff like "what are you doing this for" and "where do you want to be in 5 years" it boils my piss and I am screaming but its on deaf ears. So I am trying to discredit him in an obvious fashion by flagging up none VAT reg, no track record only anecdotes, low invoice numbers etc

Has a google search of said coach unearthed anything dubious? If that does then it will be more effective than just pointing it he doesn't have a "proper business" bank account.

Why does it matter if he's not VAT registered.......from your post he's not charging him VAT?

At £1200 a day if he cant crack £80k he is full of st and milking my mate, for that rate I would expect a polished company with a full plan - the VAT reg to me says he made he rate up after speaking to my mate.

Not all businesses are required to be VAT registered.....mine isn't.

"Exempt goods and services
There are some goods and services on which VAT is not charged, including:

insurance, finance and credit
  • *education and training***
fund raising events by charities
subscriptions to membership organisations
selling, leasing and letting of commercial land and buildings - this exemption can be waived"

Its my best mate, you dont work with mates in my book its a recipe for disaster but anyone charging £1200 a day I expect to be god like - this guy isnt. That is serious cash for Liverpool.

Sarnie - good point on the VAT I didnt suss that.
