Two Yorkshiremen, Dave and Mike, are taking a Triumph Herald Estate on the trip of several lifeltimes, the mongol Rally!

London, although they really started from God's Own County, to Ulan Ude - yes, I had to look it up.
It's a city on the eastern side of Lake Baikal, over 5,000 miles away in Russia. It's as far east from London as Hanoi in Viet-Nam.

They have already passed through Samarkand - SAMARKAND! - a legendary target for far travellers since Marco Polo - and are now on the border between Afghanistan and Tajikistan. Looks like great fun. These old Triumphs can take a lot of battering but as on this occasion it is often new parts which fail.

They are usually easy to fix by the roadside.
