Work related stress
Discussion
Hi all,
A new disposable account for some help here.
I went to my Dr with physical symptoms and some concerns about my health and it was quickly diagnosed as stress. The thought was it's work related but she did not put this down on my sickness line, just stress and I have been off for 2 weeks. In this time and going over some of the information provided, mindfulness ect I can see a lot of these symptoms are related to stress/depression.
While I have been off my work have been in contact several times, not enquiring about my health or return dates but asking for project work.I also remained the on call person. Can they be doing this, there was a question of could I cancel my holiday which I have booked off so I could come into the office to work then as this is at the end of when my doctors line ends.
I am worried I might be having a full breakdown, and really concerned I might be able to get my brain back up to operate at a level I expect it to. I think the thought of not being able to do what I do is making things worse, I've seen how long it can take to recover and it terrifies me. Looking back at the fortnight before I was signed off I can tell the work I carried out was not to my own high standards, probably not even to my customers standards.

No idea.
Thought about getting a job you can do without it impacting your health and your colleagues?
That's the long term fix for your wellbeing - I'm not being flippant.
Good luck.
I do appreciate this and I have been considering it for some time.Thought about getting a job you can do without it impacting your health and your colleagues?

Try and speak to your line manager /HR about how you are feeling and explain what is causing you to feel stressed. They need to know what the issues are so they can look at what they can do about it. It would help you to return to work if you know the issues are going to be looked at and where reasonably practicable addressed.
